What is neuropathy?
When nerve damage leads to pain, weakness, numbness or lingling in one or more parts of some on body that is called neuropathy.
The nerve can damage may be due to disease, infection, injury, medicines, long- term alcohol abuse or another reason. Some time there is not cause found.
Type of Neuropathy:
Neuropathy has many different types in neuropathy usually body part is affected, the cause of nerve damage and the number of nerves affected. Different types of neuropathy are:
Autonomic Neuropathy:
In this neuropathy when there is damage of nerves that control your body is autonomic functions, just like digestion, blood pressure and bladder function.
Focal Neuropathy:
Focal neuropathy is not common as some of other types of neuropathy. When damage is limited to a single nerve, it is known as focal neuropathy. It is mostly affects a nerve in the hand, head or torso. In this neuropathy only one nerve is affected, just like carpal tunnel, syndrome, and Bell’s palsy.
Mon neuropathy:
In Mon neuropathy, damage to vessel disease. When a single nerve is damaged. It is fairly common type of neuropathy. The nerve may be in the face, torso, arm or leg.
Personal Nerve palsy:
It is caused by compression of the fibular nerve in the leg, Bell’s palsy, which is a single-nerve neuropathy that affects the face. It affects several nerves. Mostly people have polyneuropathy.
Symptoms:
The main symptoms of neuropathy are;
- Numberless and tingling in the feet or hands.
- Burning, stabbing or shooting pain in affected areas.
- Loss of balance and co-ordination.
- Muscle weakness, especially in the feet.
- Electric shock- like sensations
- A Loss of movement or functions.
- Problems with balance.
Causes
There are many cause of neuropathy which is following:
- Diabetes
- Gilliam- Barre syndrome.
- Certain infection, like HIV infection and AIDS
- Long term alcohol abuse.
- Vitamin deficiencies
- Some medicines
- Tumors
- Pressure on nerve
- Thyroid problems
- Chemotherapy and radiotherapy
- High anxiety
- Injuries, infections, metabolic problems, inherited
